STAG – A Benchmark Supplier

STAG are proud to have been designated as a benchmark supplier by the UK Defence Logistics Organisation (DLO). This was achieved after STAG won four major supply contracts for the provision of Aircraft General Spares direct to any of the seventy Royal Air Force Maintenance Units (MU) worldwide.

The DLO is responsible for the integration of the supply requirements of the British Army, Royal Navy and Royal Air Force. Working closely together the DLO and STAG have introduced an efficient cost effective Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) for the full range of AGS parts.

The streamlined service introduced has brought substantial reductions in the DLO’s inventories, both at central depots and at the Maintenance Units. Demand Orders are placed directly with STAG electronically which are uploaded onto the Supply Management software. The system then automatically allocates stock, produces bar-coded labels and confirms the quantity required in each individual pack. Items are packed in-house to the relevant defence standards (DEFSTAN) before dispatch.

Deliveries to bases are carried out on a daily or weekly basis depending on the required delivery schedule. Aircraft on Ground situations are handled with the utmost priority and can be expedited within hours of the requirement being declared and will, if necessary, be hand delivered by a STAG staff member.

STAG operates on behalf of the DLO a stock management service covering over 8000 individual parts and components. This means that they no longer need to hold stock themselves, resulting in major savings in valuable management and infrastructure costs.
